Air Liquide Adds New Hydrogen Stations in Northeast
As hydrogen vehicles gain major momentum nationwide, Air Liquide recently began building four hydrogen fueling stations for the northeast of the U.S. When completed, these stations will be open to the general public, providing the owners of hydrogen cars with much-needed infrastructure needed for zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).
At Preston Auto Body, we see more and more hydrogen vehicles in Preston and all over the State of MD, so adding new fueling stations throughout the country is a big deal.
The world of energy is in smack right in the middle of this rapid evolution and hydrogen is one of those solutions that is offering a response to the challenges posed for clean transportation, which includes reducing greenhouse gasses, cutting down on pollution in our cities and our overall dependency on oil-based fuels.
These Air Liquide stations are the first four of 12 hydrogen stations planned for the northeast U.S. in close collaboration with Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. At the beginning, this network of hydrogen stations that will eventually span roughly 300 miles spanning five states and will support the introduction of hydrogen FCEVs on the East Coast which includes the Toyota Mirai.
Air Liquide signed long-term lease agreements for hydrogen stations in the these major eastern cities:
· Hartford, Connecticut
· Braintree, Massachusetts
· Mansfield, Massachusetts
· Bronx, New York
· Trenton, New Jersey
The hydrogen supplied by Air Liquide will be manufactured off-site and delivered directly to the stations. These stations are designed and constructed by Air Liquide and will be fully capable of fueling a hydrogen FCEV in around five minutes and offering a typical vehicle fueling experience for FCEV owners.
Hydrogen FCEVs are capable of a range of more than 300 miles per fill-up, depending on each particular model. All of the stations will have the capacity to support other carmakers as they start bringing hydrogen FCEVs into the Northeast.
This effort is the latest in Air Liquide's current portfolio of hydrogen fuel cell energy in the U.S. and throughout North America, which also includes public and private hydrogen stations in California and numerous fleet fueling projects for public buses and vehicles used in warehouses.
