Ford Transit Connect Scores Best In Class Fuel Economy Ratings
While it may not look sporty, Ford's Transit Connect Wagon has achieved a remarkable 29 combined mpg rating. This is 7 mpg better than last year's model, but Ford is hoping that they'll be able to make ever larger improvements with their diesel model.
The Transit Connect beats out competition such as Nissan's NV200 Cargo Van and the 2018 Ram ProMaster by several mpg. Early next year we'll see the new generation of Ford's 1.5 liter diesel which they hope will break the 30 mpg mark.
Ford may have nearly half of the share of compact van sales in the US but its sales were down 20 percent from the previous year.
This year's sales don't look much better, down another 9.3 percent from last year with 23,218 units sold through September. Unless some drastic sales occur in the next 3 months, the downward trend will continue.
