How to Wash Your Car Without Water

AutoBody-Review how to wash your car without waterWhen your car needs a good wash, most people in Springfield, MO will fill a bucket with soapy water, grab some towels and the hose, and get to work. But what if you live in an area with water restrictions or are trying to conserve water to help the planet? You might want to consider a waterless wash, so here are some tips about how to do it from Reliable Imports And RV Collision Center.

There are a variety of products available on the market that are made with a chemical formula that will clean your vehicle. Some have a built-in wax that can add extra protection.

If your car happens to be caked with mud or sand, this might not be an ideal way to wash it, or you might need to pre-rinse it first. However, if you have some light dirt, it can be a quick way to get the job done.

Not only is it eco-friendly, but it is also efficient and can be easier than using the traditional soap and water method.

Before you get started, you’ll want to purchase some good quality microfiber towels. They often provide the best results because of their softness and high absorbency. Look for towels that have a deep nap so dirt will collect inside the towel rather than rub against the paint. Thin towels with a flat nap or weave aren’t recommended because there is nowhere for the dirt to go.

How to get the most from a waterless wash:

1.) Start out with a clean towel and fold it in half twice so there are eight sides. Once you have used the eight sides to clean your vehicle, use another clean towel. This prevents dirt spreading from one panel to another and also helps avoid scratching the paint.

2.) Decide on how you are going to tackle the job. It’s easiest to clean in sections such as the roof, side doors, side glass, hood, trunk lid, front and rear bumpers, and the wheels.

3.) Most people begin with the roof, which is usually the cleanest part of the vehicle. After spraying the surface of the car with the waterless wash formula, use light strokes to wipe in one direction rather than using a circular motion. There is no need to rub aggressively.

4.) Use a second cloth to gently buff and dry the area.

5.) After it’s dry, you can move on to another part of the car. When you’re cleaning the wheels, it is recommended to use a different towel so you don’t transfer the brake dust to the paint.

Waterless washes might be the wave of the future. Ask your local car wash to give it a try or test it out for yourself!
