I was involved in an accident recently where my parked car was damaged by a coworker when they returned to work after lunch. We promptly shared insurance information. My insurance co. approved Key Collision as a reliable business, so I brought my car there. I was immediately greeted by the front desk and, promptly again, by the manager, Rick. We had a productive conversation. He clearly shared what, how, when, and where damage could be fixed. Within hours, both myself and my insurance co were provided with an extremely reasonable quote for repair.
After the person who damaged my car contacted Geico, a representative named Scott called me and that's when a, thus far, pleasant experience (despite the unfortunate circumstances) went downhill fast. The person on the other end of the line sounded intense. He spoke fast. My attempts at understanding what he was trying to communicate was not easy. As I listened I worked hard at comprehension as my bottom line was I wanted my car fixed at no charge to me. I asked questions, however, the answers were just as jumbled as the previous attempts. It was then I began to rephrase to Scott in short, brief phrases what I was hearing him say. After my 3rd or 4th attempt I said something like (paraphrasing) "So, you won't replace my bumper, you will fix the damage to a certain area on the car, but it will look like ****?" Scott replied, "That is exactly what I am saying." My final request was to fix the damage done to my car. The other option Scott was offering was that of cash. I remember that sounding ludicrous to me because the SAME business was doing the quote for both insurance companies (Key Collision). Key Collision was approved by both insurance companies. The quote was less than my own deductible on my insurance ($1000), and since this was a minor incident and my car was working fine I wanted it fixed.
I called Rick at Key Collision immediately after the disturbing conversation with Scott. Rick explained professionally that all parties in these difficult situations have a job to do and that he was sorry my experience became challenging. I asked him why Geico approved Key Collision as a trusted repair shop, but didn't back up their work with the customers? He patiently explained how different folks might approach car repair satisfaction based on a wide range of personal criteria, age of car, wear and tear on car etc. He additionally explained how agents also must be cautious about clients' attempts to mislead companies about damage on cars (previous vs. actual damage made by recent impact). The end result was Rick talking me down after an upsetting interaction. He assured me the car would be repaired well and that I would not regret my choice to use Key Collision.
He was right.
Not only was the car completed 4 days prior to Geico's estimate, it was a pristine job.
My car went in the shop one way and got the make over of it's 10 year old life! That is saying a lot when it comes to a car driven in Vermont winters for that long.
Not only was the repair fixed (truly...LIKE MAGIC), the doors were oiled, interior cleaned, exterior washed, AND multiple blinking lights from a faulty ECM in my car were adjusted and stabilized once again!
WOW!
I am a hard working Vermonter who bought my first new car at the age of 40. I knew I would drive this car for quite a while. I can now drive it that much longer with pride.
Key Collision went above and beyond the... ABOVE AND BEYOND!
