I was informed by Barb that she would call with updates when I dropped my car off. However, 3 hours after my car had been in the shop (after an estimate of ****.6 hours to repair), I had to call to get an update. The person I spoke to had to call the Maplewood office to try and find out, then couldn't give me anything other than "they found more damage." Barb then called after that and even admitted to being told (I'm assuming by the person I initially talked to) that I was mad about not being updated. Barb's initial response was that she didn't know how long it'd take and reminded that the estimate was just an estimate and the guys working had taken their lunch break of course. She then had to call me back after talking to the parts guy to see when the parts would come in and said it would be later that evening. I informed Barb that I had to go to work and wouldn't be able to pick my car up till the next day. I then received two additional calls from her (once I was already at work) stating that my car was ready and then another about the cost. I also got multiple emails (completely useless) stating I'd be getting updates shortly but never got anything pertinent in them.
The entire process was frustrating. Someone from your main office called and set up appointments for the estimate as well as the repairs, however both times I arrived at my scheduled time, the workers seemed confused. I understand that the estimate was only on the visible damage, but common courtesy would be to notify the owner that additional damage was discovered WHEN IT'S DISCOVERED, rather than keeping the owner in the dark and making them call (and be put on hold while one office calls another) to find out what's going on. You confirmed my phone number when I dropped it off, why bother if you aren't going to use it until I get mad and call for an update? When you do call, have your act together, I don't need multiple calls going over info that could have been covered in a single call. Also, maybe not make it know to your customers that they were referred to as "mad" by another employee - definitely doesn't make me want to come back - same message could have been passed on as "she hasn't had an update on her car and wants one."

The collision repair process can be problematic for the customer. In my opinion Schaeffer Autobody was aware of all of the issues I could face during this process and made sure they were all addressed. From making sure a rental car was available for me at drop off to being able to pull up the status of my vehicle on the website, it was an amazing experience. While I don't look forward to another collision repair issue, I would definitely choose Schaeffer Autobody again without question.
