Where do I begin…
Car was ready on the Jan 21st, I wasn’t aware of it for 10 days. No actual call came in. VM and text msg, no alternate phone # attempted.
According to my phone records
Seth left a voice mail at 9:27 am Jan 21st
Seth left a text msg at 12:23 pm Jan 21st
Seth left a second voice mail at 12:29 pm Jan 27th
Then his 3rd voicemail left today (Jan 31st) at 10:52 am
Not everyone is young and on their phone all the time. Elderly people are overlooked every day.
Nothing was mailed out to my home address. My phone has been difficult to read. When there was no response Seth should have tried something different instead of letting the car sit there for 10 days. Seth has my son’s number, he (my son) had been involved from the beginning. He drives me most places in my advanced years. Seth actually called my son Lary Wallace back in Nov. (Nov. 16th at 10:59 am) regarding the initial assessment of damages. No attempt was made by Seth to reach him when I was not responding. Seth never showed concern for my situation of doing without my car for 5 weeks.
Seth claimed that each time he called it went straight to VM and to prove it he stood in front of me and called my number, my phone rang and did not go straight to VM. I had received many live calls during that 10 day period.
Seth always communicated in a deadpan way, saying your repair will take 5 weeks, my son had to ask the reason why after no exclamation was fourth coming from Seth. There was no acknowledgement that it might be a hardship, he clearly really didn’t care about my experience with Toyota.
In less than 6 months prior to this I had bought a brand new car from Reliable Toyota and when this repair was needed (an accident that was not our fault) we had lots of options but chose Toyota collision. We asked for a loaner car, which seems reasonable and was declined.
On Jan 27th we rented a car from Toyota at a rate only allowed if ones car is in for repairs/collision shop. Toyota rental should have been aware that car was completed 6 days prior.
Reimbursement for that rental of 164.27 is not an unreasonable request. I can always take Toyota to small claims court and if I have to do that I will make it public knowledge.
I called ahead to tell let Seth know that I would be coming to pick up the car and yet I had to wait for them to get it ready. When I questioned why it wasn’t ready Seth said to me “it got dusty sitting on the lot so long” then chuckled. I can’t hardly believe that it sat on their lot for 10 days.
I had a child’s car seat secured in place when I dropped the car off, only when I got home did I notice that it had been just thrown on the back seat the straps to secure were all messed up and on top of that I found whitish grease on a nearby port meant to secure something to if necessary. Re-hooking up the car seat properly was not easy. There was a distinct lack of concern for my property.
Toyota had a customer for life with the maintenance of this car and any other I chose to buy. I cannot see myself bringing any car back to Toyota even for an oil change.
I understand that I was remiss is checking these two sources, my phone is broken and hard to read. I accept responsibility for that. I am almost 70 years old and expected a live call that never came in.
I had asked my son to follow-up on several occasions, and Seth himself had called my son, so Seth had an alternate number that he could have used.
My son had taken in the car for routine maintenance on several occasions.
No attempt to contact him was made.
I am sure that Seth felt sure that he had done his job with his calls/messages and felt no further action was necessary. Reliable Toyota had a customer for life, the car was brand new. Then I needed them and the whole experience was a very bad for me and I cannot see myself every returning to Reliable Toyota for even an oil change. I have means, a lot elderly people have money yet we are pushed aside often enough that we are fighting back now. We are people too.
I will tell this story to anyone who asks
